George founded Weatherstone Counseling Institute in 2020, with the goal of creating a community-based therapy practice that emphasizes providing the highest quality mental health care to clients, as well as helping to educate graduate students and new clinicians entering the field.
George has been working in the field of mental health treatment since 2010. He has worked as a psychotherapist in private practice, as well as a Clinical Director of multiple psychiatric hospitals, a Clinical Director of a long-term residential facility for adults with mental illness, a residential case manager for adults with developmental disabilities and a Special Olympics coach.
George earned his Bachelor’s degree in Developmental Psychology from DePaul University and his Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University.
George takes an integrative approach to therapy, using knowledge and skills from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), as well as his knowledge of the individual clients, in order to tailor treatment plans that meet the unique needs of the clients he works with. He also incorporates elements of Existential Psychology, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, expressive arts and play therapy, in order to help his clients explore themselves as individuals. Additionally, George offers EMDR therapy for clients working on issues related to traumatic experiences.
George has extensive experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups. He offers primarily in person appointments at both of Weatherstone’s offices, as well as telehealth appointments.
In addition to his work with clients, George commits himself to mentoring newly licensed clinician and graduate level Clinical interns.
