Edson is pursuing his Master’s of Social Work (MSW) from Aurora University, where he also earned his Bachelor’s of Social Work (BSW). He has extensively studied multiple evidence-based approaches such as strength-based strategies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Edson brings several years of experience in working with diverse clientele, especially with youth/adolescents and immigrant populations. He has worked for nearly 3 years in case management for National Youth Advocate Program- La Jornada in a transitional foster care facility. He has also undergone trauma-informed training, such as Trust-Based Relational Intervention, to connect and empower youth who have experienced trauma related to their past as an unaccompanied minor. He also volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Kane County, providing a voice for children in foster care who have experienced abuse and/or neglect.
Edson values the opportunity to use English and Spanish when working with clients. He is also accustomed to adapting to new experiences, demonstrating exceptional cultural competence, and being receptive to feedback when offered. Edson is committed to serving populations from all backgrounds and providing a safe and understanding space for all clients.
